1. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-01X5HLJZPQ), a web analytics service provided by Google. When a page loads, your browser sends Google information such as the page address (which, on word pages, contains the word you looked up), the referring page, your browser and device type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and an identifier stored in first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_*). We use these statistics only in aggregate, to see which pages are used and how the site performs.

You can block Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, a content blocker, or by blocking cookies for this site. See the cookie policy for the cookies involved.

2. Hosting and server logs

whatisa.net is served by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). To deliver pages and protect the site against abuse, Cloudflare processes request data such as IP address, requested URL, user agent and time of the request. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

3. Data stored in your browser

Apart from the Google Analytics cookies, the site does not set cookies. Your browser may cache the dictionary files it downloads, as it does for any website; you can clear this cache in your browser settings.

4. Email

If you email us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply. We do not add you to any mailing list.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to its processing. whatisa.net itself does not hold personal profiles; analytics data is held by Google and can be limited with the opt-out options above. If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change too.
